A police fingerprint card for the man who shot and killed presidential assassin Lee Harvey Oswald is going up for sale at an auction.

Two days after president John F. Kennedy was shot in Dallas in November, 1963, Oswald was being transferred from Dallas police headquarters, when he was killed by local nightclub owner Jack Ruby.

The opening bid for the card at the February 26th auction is $10,000 and expert says it could fetch as much as $40,000.

Mike Provenzale with Heritage Auctions says it’s one of the most fascinating item they’ve seen tied to JFK and the assassination.

But there are critics who say this item belongs in a museum. Heritage Auctions says galleries and museums are welcome to bid on the item.
