Ontario is telling the LCBO to stop selling Russian products.
In a tweet, Finance Minister Peter Bethlenfalvy says he’s directing the Crown corporation take the action in light of Russia invading Ukraine. He adds “the people of Ontario will always stand against tryanny and oppression.”
The move comes hours after provincial Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca wrote to the LCBO’s CEO with a similar request. Premier Doug Ford says he’s been considering the move long before Del Duca’s request.
Crown liquor stores in other provinces have announced similar moves.
Ontario has already pledged to spend $300,000 in humanitarian aid to support Ukrainians in need.
