With fuel, medical supplies and cash already said to be running low in parts of Ukraine after Russia’s invasion, United Nations aid agencies say up to 5-million could flee abroad.
A spokesperson for the UN refugee agency at least 100,000 are already on the run, while several thousand have already crossed into neighbouring countries like Poland, Romania and Moldova.
UN officials have set aside $20-million U.S. to boost humanitarian operations in Ukraine.
Humanitarian chief Martin Griffiths says the money form the UN’s Central Emergency Response Fund will support emergency operations along the contact line in eastern Donetsk and Luhansk and in other areas of Ukraine.
