In French, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s last name is written and pronounced “Poutine.”
Now, the Quebec restaurant that claims to have invented poutine has dropped the name of its most famous dish from some of its branding because of the association with the Russian president’s name.
Le Roy Jucep, a diner in Drummondville is temporarily removing the word “poutine” from some of its online branding as a means of expressing its deep dismay over Vladimir Putin’s war on Ukraine.
The diner says, as of now, it is the inventor of “fries cheese gravy”
