Saying she wants to make change at the provincial level, Toronto City Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam is leaving City Hall in hopes of joining the NDP up the street at Queen’s Park.
”I’ve chosen to join the NDP and in particular I’ve chosen to join Andrea Horwath,” says Wong-Tam.
”Over the past four years with Doug Ford at the helm of the province, I’ve seen the hardship of Ontarians right across and in particular in Toronto Centre where we have the three poorest census tracts in the city,” she adds.
First elected to City Council in 2010, the Ward 13 -Toronto Centre councillor will seek the nomination for the New Democrats for the same riding in the June 2 provincial election.
Wong-Tam’s the only NDP nominee and intends to replace outgoing MPP Suze Morrison who is not seeking re-election for health reasons.
