It’s good news from the head of Ontario’s COVID 19 science advisory table.

Dr. Peter Juni says the latest wastewater data shows the province may have plateaued at 100,000 COVID-19 cases a day.

But Dr. Juni also cautions it’s important not to get ahead of ourselves, especially as we’re starting a long holiday weekend.

“At the tail of this curve, we always have a bit of uncertainty. So we know we’ve slowed down, but is this now a plateau or do we go up again, especially after Easter? That will depend on us. Or do we start to go down? So we need to have a few more days of data…but by all means, it looks much better than 6 or 7 days ago,” Dr. Juni explained.

Dr. Juni is urging those celebrating Easter or Passover this weekend to do it outdoors if weather permits. (Unfortunately the weather doesn’t look great though)

Last week, Dr. Juni said the province was likely seeing between 100,000 and 120,000 new cases of COVID daily.

Current COVID related hospitalizations in Ontario are at 1330 with 13 additional virus related deaths reported on Wednesday.

New COVID-19 modelling is to be released at 1:30pm Thursday, a month after the last modelling was published.
