Toronto Mayor John Tory, who tested negative as recently as yesterday, has now tested positive for COVID-19.
A news release, issued by his staff, says the mayor feels fine and is isolating at home. It goes on to stay he will continue to do his job as Mayor and take part in virtual meetings while he isolates and recovers.
John Tory is fully vaccinated against COVID-19. He received three doses of a vaccine last year and plans to get the 4th shot booster next month.
For the last number of weeks, the Mayor had been taking daily rapid tests out of an abundance of caution given the number of events he attends.
A full recovery is expected.
