Toronto’s mayor says he’s using his own experience with COVID-19 as yet another reason to encourage people to get their booster shots.

The mayor explained Wednesday morning, his isolation period is over, but he’s being extra cautious by taking an extra day or so to work from home.

“I feel fine, and I had quite acute symptoms for a day and a half last Thursday and Friday,” Mayor Tory explained to CP24, “And I just think the fact I was triple vaccinated made a big difference between my ending up having those symptoms go away pretty quickly and having to serve out my isolation period and feeling quite well versus possibly ending up in the hospital.”

Mayor Tory says the vast majority of people are double vaccinated against COVID, but the uptake on third shot boosters has not been the same.

A 2nd booster or 4th shot of COVID vaccine has been made available to people 60 and over in Ontario for nearly two weeks.
