Canada has delivered M777 howitzers and ammunition to Ukraine, fulfilling a promise to send heavy artillery to the embattled country.
The Department of National Defence says the M777 155-millimetre towed howitzer is capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 30 kilometres.
The equipment is part of the Canadian Armed Forces inventory and will be replenished.
The government is also finalizing contracts to buy commercial pattern armoured vehicles, which it says will be sent to Ukraine as soon as possible.
Canada set aside another $500 million to provide military aid to Ukraine in the recent budget.
