As expected, Ontario will extend its remaining mask mandates in high-risk settings incuding hospitals, long term care homes and public transit.

The rule had been due to expire next Wednesday but is being extended until June 11.

Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Kieran Moore previously said he planned to recommend the government extend the policy as the province contends with a sixth wave of infections.

Most other pandemic measures have ended in the province.

Statement from the Province:

Provincial masking requirements which were set to expire on April 27, 2022 are being extended in current settings until 12:00 a.m. on June 11, 2022, including:

public transit;
health care settings (e.g., hospitals, doctors’ offices, clinics that provide health care services, laboratories, specimen collection centres, and home and community care);
long-term care homes;
retirement homes; and
shelters and other congregate care settings that provide care and services to medically and socially vulnerable individuals.

Meantime, Ottawa is easing some remaining COVID-19 restrictions at the border but masking on planes will continue.

Starting Monday, unvaccinated children aged five to 11 travelling with a fully vaccinated adult will no longer need a COVID-19 test to enter the country.

Fully vaccinated travellers, and any kids under 12 with them, won’t have to provide their quarantine plans, wear a mask for two weeks, keep a list of contacts or report COVID-19 symptoms.
