CANADIAN TO CONDUCT UKRAINE FREEDOM ORCHESTRA

A Ukrainian-Canadian has been tapped to conduct The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra which is being organized by the New York’s Metropolitan Opera and the Polish National Opera.

Keri-Lynn Wilson was born in Winnipeg into an accomplished musical family.  One of her grandfathers was an operatic baritone, her grandmother a pianist, her father a violinist and music educator, her mother a professor of English.  Wilson is married to the Met’s general manager.

The orchestra will include musicians from Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv and Odessa, plus Ukrainian members of European orchestras.

Members will gather in gather in Warsaw in mid July for rehearsals.

The Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra will tour Europe and the U-S in July and August.
