Mayor John Tory will lead the first in-person Toronto film industry mission to LA since 2019.
The more than 50 delegates going on the trip May 24 to 25 will take with them one shared message in support of the city as a top production destination.
The mission was announced in Downsview, on the future site of a major new film and TV production hub.
The city has also earmarked nearly 10-acres of city-owned waterfront land for another studio.
”The mission is about securing investment and jobs in Toronto,” says Tory.
”Our city’s film and TV is thriving and growing at an expansive rate, and while we have many productions and numbers to be proud of, I am always looking for more investments in our city.”
Toronto has had two straight years of record-breaking production volume, with 2020 and 2021 totalling nearly $5-billion.
The city has one of the largest screen-based industries in North America, employing over 35,000 people.
