The Ontario election is a week from Thursday on June 2nd, with the latest Nanos poll suggesting Doug Ford and the Progressive Conservatives have widened their lead for a majority government.

The survey finds the Tories have support of just over 37 percent of decided voters, up from 36 percent the week before and 35 percent the week before that.

The Steven Del Duca Liberals remain in second at 28 percent support, now challenged by Andrea Horwath and the New Democrats who picked up three points over the past week and are now at 23 percent among decided voters.

The Green Party has just over 6 percent support, while Green Party Leader Mike Schreiner has nearly 10 percent support of voters who think he would make the best premier.

Pollster Nik Nanos says the only provincial party leader who is down as preferred premier, compared with the beginning of the campaign, is Andrea Horwath.

“What it speaks to at least is that for a number of the party leaders they have been able to have some traction, but for Horwath on a personal basis, not so much compared with those numbers at the very beginning of May,” Nanos explained.

The race is close in the GTA, where Ford and the PCs have just a four point lead over the Liberals, which likely explains why Steven Del Duca is spending a second straight day campaigning in the City of Toronto.

As for the top ballot box issues, healthcare is number one, followed by inflation and affordability.
