NEWLYWED UKRAINIAN COMEDIAN HAS TIME FOR ONE LAST PERFORMANCE BEFORE JOINING THE WAR

Russia’s war in Ukraine isn’t remotely funny. But Ukrainians are learning to laugh about the awfulness.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and his troops are favorite targets of dark Ukrainian wartime humor. But there are boundaries. Ukrainian dead are not laughed about and the grimmest battles like the brutal siege of Mariupol are far too raw for jokes.

Stand-up comics and newlyweds Serhiy Lipko and Anastasia Zukhvala are among those using humor as a weapon and to keep spirits up.

But Lipko will shortly be deployed as a soldier on the battlefields of Ukraine.

That country’s most famous comedian is President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a former stand up comedian and actor in the series “Servant of the People,” which airs on VISION TV.
