Montreal has now been declared the North American epicentre of the monkeypox outbreak.
There are now 132 confirmed cases of Monkeypox in Canada up from 98 a week ago. 125 of those infections are in Montreal and most involve men who’ve had sex with other men.
Montreal Epidemiologist, Dr. Christopher Labos says you’re advised to be cautious because monkeypox is transmissible, but it’s not as transmissible as COVID-19 where you can be infected virtually anywhere.
Meantime, the World Health Organization is convening an emergency panel of experts to determine if the expanding monkeypox outbreak should be considered a global health emergency.
