He’s a two-time Oscar winner and he’s being detained in Italy for investigation of an alleged sexual assault.
69-year old Paul Haggis, who was born and raised in London, Ontario was in southern Italy attending a film festival.
He’s accused of sexually assaulting who police describe as a “young foreign woma,” who was dropped off at an airport, where authorities helped her.
Haggis’s lawyer says the film maker is innocent and welcomes the opportunity to clear his name.
Haggis won the Oscar for best picture and best original screen play for the film “Crash” in 2006.
