As of Monday June 20th, proof of COVID-19 vaccination is no longer required for domestic plane and train travel and outgoing international air travel.

Martin Firestone at Travel Secure Inc. told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with guest host Jane Brown, the increased passenger traffic with unvaccinated travellers will only make ongoing delays at the airports even worse.

“If the numbers are accurate there are 5-million unvaccinated Canadians domestically. I think travel has to pick up big time on Monday. I would think people haven’t seen family or friends for close to three years so there’s a big increase there. Infrastructure there I’ve always said is not keeping up with the travel, yet alone this recent announcement,” Firestone explained.

And he says what doesn’t make sense at all is allowing people to leave Canada unvaccinated only for those people to face tremendous confusion coming back with needing to have a quarantine plan and the arrive can document completely filled out.

There is an expectation at Pearson Airport that international travel numbers will jump 50 percent during the imminent Summer travel season.
