There is an apology from Air Canada as their staff looks into a situation on one of the airlines’ flights earlier this week that saw dozens of passengers removed from a plane in Montreal.
More than 2-dozen passengers were asked to deplane from flight AC866 June 20th that was bound for London for what Air Canada said was “non compliance with Canadian government mask regulations, Canadian Aviation Regulations, as well as directives of our crew.”
“Absolutely disgraceful,” tweeted one woman who said that 23 people were pulled off the plane at random including an elderly couple.
Video posted online shows armed officers aboard the plane asking several people to leave.
But Air Canada has since admitted in a statement some of the customers who were not involved were “unfortunately deplaned.”
The statement says they have reached out to those who were mistakenly removed to apologize and address their concerns.
While vaccine mandates in Canada for domestic and outgoing international travel have been lifted, mask mandates for travellers remain in place.
