Doug Ford’s new 30-person cabinet has officially been sworn in.
Replacing Christine Elliott as deputy premier and health minister is Sylvia Jones, the former solicitor general.
Many of the cabinet ministers remain in the same portfolios they held prior to the election, including Stephen Lecce in education, Peter Bethlenfalvy keeps finance, Caroline Mulroney stays in transportation, Steve Clark holds onto municipal affairs and housing, Monte McNaughton is still the labour minister and Vic Fedeli continues to oversee economic development.
Among six newly elected MPPs in cabinet is the premier’s 28-year-old nephew Michael Ford; now minister of citizenship and multiculturalism.
Other rookie ministers include, Neil Lumsden, the former Canadian Football League player, who won the longtime NDP seat of Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and who takes over as minister of tourism, culture and sport from Lisa MacLeod.
She’s been dropped from cabinet along with Ross Romano.
