Former Donald Trump ally Steve Bannon has been found guilty on two charges of contempt of Congress.
The jury deliberated for slightly less than three hours. The eight women and four men on the jury found the 68-year-old guilty of refusing to appear for a deposition and for refusing to provide documents in response to the January 6th committee’s subpoena. Federal prosecutors said it was a simple case about a man who didn’t show up. They said Bannon did not want to provide the January 6th committee with documents, didn’t want to answer its questions, and did not want to recognize the authority of Congress. He faces up to two years in a federal lockup when he’s sentenced.
