Conservative party members will be greeted virtually by former leader Erin O’Toole at the event where his successor will be named.

PC Party President Rob Batherson ays he was invited to speak in person September 10 in Ottawa, but, instead will offer his greetings by video.

According to Batherson, O’Toole had a previous commitment that will prevent him from attending.

His ouster last winter triggered the Conservatives third leadership race since the Tories lost the 2015 election.

O’Toole’s kept a low profile since most of his caucus voted he be removed as leader last February following much internal tension.

A lot of Conservatives MPs were not happy with how he handled COVID-19 vaccine mandates along with efforts to moderate some Tory policies such as climate change.
