Following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Charles becomes the oldest person at 73 to take the British throne.
No date has been set for his coronation as a ten day period of mourning begins in Britain.
On his first full day of duties today, King Charles makes his way to London after he and the Queen Consort Camilla spent the night at Balmoral, where Queen Elizabeth died yesterday at the age of 96.
Charles will later on Friday meet the new British Prime Minister Liz Truss, and deliver a speech to the nation.
Charles takes the throne in an era of uncertainty for both his country and the monarchy itself.
