INVENTOR OF THE "SCRUNCHIE" DIES AT 78

You may not know her name, but her invention swept the world.

 

Rommy Hunt Revson created the Scrunchie, the ornamental tie that quickly became a mandatory accessory for women’s hair.

Hunt Revson made the first scrunchy of fabric and elastic and acquired a patent for the device in the early 1980s.

She was was a former nightclub singer, once married to an heir to the Revlon cosmetics fortune.

Rommy Hunt Revson, has died while being treated for for Cushing’s disease at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota..

She was 78.
