Hurricane Fiona is forecast to pass near Bermuda early Friday and then hit eastern Canada early Saturday.
Philippe Papin at the National Hurricane Center says Fiona has strengthened considerably as it grinds northward across the Atlantic Ocean.
“Fiona currently right now has maximum sustained winds of 209 kmh ( 130 miles per hour ) that makes it a category 4 hurricane.
“This is going to be an historic storm, we know it’s going to be massive,” says Chris Scott, Chief Meteorologist at The Weather Network. “We want to get across the point here that this is not just a hurricane, it’s more like a hurricane and a nor’easter combined.”
Fiona has already pummelled Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, bringing heavy rain and widespread flooding.
