BOOKER PRIZE WINNER DAME HILARY MANTEL DIES AT 70

Dame Hilary Mantel was the author of the acclaimed “Wolf Hall” saga.

She is generally credited with re-energizing historical fiction after writing “Walk Hall” and two sequels about the 16th century English powerbroker Thomas Cromwell

She won the Booker for “Wolf Hall” inh 2009 and its sequel “Bring up the Bodies in 2012.

The third and final book in the series, “The Mirror and the Light,” was published in 2030 and was longlisted for the Booker Prize that year.

The trilogy sold more than five million copies globally and has been translated into 41 languages.

Publisher HarperCollins says the author died yesterday “suddenly yet peacefully” surrounded by close family and friends.

Dame Hilary Mantel was 70.
