There seems to be very little excitement around the coming Ontario municipal elections.

But that could change here in Toronto, leading up to, and after the CARP Toronto Mayoral Debate.

It is set for Thursday October 13th at the ZoomerPlex in Toronto’s Liberty Village.

CARP’s Chief Community Officer Anthony Quinn says Mayoral Incumbent John Tory has agreed to take part.

“After speaking with Mayor Tory’s campaign manager a few weeks ago when we made our case as to why the CARP debate is so important,” Quinn explained to Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, “And we’ve got a 12 year history of hosting debates municipally in Toronto. So we’re glad to report that Mayor Tory has agreed to an October 13th debate and we look forward to sharing details very soon.”

Seen as the main mayoral challenger, Gil Penalosa, founder and chair of 8-80 Cities, is also taking part in the debate as is Human Rights Lawyer Knia Singh. Others may also be involved.

In all, there are 31 candidates running for Toronto’s mayor in the October 24th election.
