In the next generation of Star Wars movies, when you hear Darth Vader, it won’t be the original.

91 year old legendary actor James Earl Jones is apparently hanging up Darth’s helmet and cape.

The film’s supervising producer tells Vanity Fair that Jones has been looking into winding down his involvement with the character and in recent Star Wars films like “Obi-Wan Kenobi,” the veteran actor’s voice was remastered from the original Star Wars films and some of Jones’ archival voice recordings.

For future Star Wars projects, Jones has reportedly granted permission for Disney and Lucasfilm to use AI to recreate Vader’s voice.

Jones voiced Lord Vader in the original Star Wars film which came out in 1977 and follow-ups “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.”
