Hard to believe that it was 60-years ago today four mop tops from Liverpool released their first hit in Britain.
“Love Me Do” featured Ringo Starr on drums. The B-side was “PS I Love You.”
The North American versions of the songs (featuring a different drummer with Ringo on tambourine) were released in 1964.
“Love Me Do” peaked at number 17 in Britain and became a number-one hit in the U-S and Canada when it was released here two years later.
Beatlemania was born.
