For the first time ever, major theatre chains will play a Netflix release before it streams and the one to be shown had its world premier at the Toronto International Film Festival.
Rian Johnson’s “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” will play AMC, Regal and Cinemark theatres beginning November 23rd for an exclusive one week engagement, a month before it being streaming.
Up until now, those chains have largely refused to program Netflix releases.
The deal stops short of a full theatrical release window for the film which will play in some 600 theatres across the US.
