Canada’s minister of sport is weighing in on the latest resignation at Hockey Canada, saying the sport’s governing body must continue to transition to a new leadership and governance team.

Pascale St-Onge’s statement Sunday came a day after Andrea Skinner resigned as the interim chair of Hockey Canada’s board of directors amid criticism over her Tuesday defence of the leadership group to Parliament’s heritage committee.

Skinner and her recent predecessor Michael Brind’Amour were grilled over Hockey Canada’s handling of an alleged group sex assault involving members of the 2018 men’s national junior team, and lawsuit settlements.

St-Onge said the two resignations are steps in the right direction that “must now be followed by a process of meaningful change” in the organization’s values and culture
