Ontario’s top doctor predicts a complex and difficult winter battling COVID-19.

With hospitalizations increasing in the past several weeks, Dr. Kieran Moore says he’s watching two new Omicron variants — BQ1 and BQ1.1 — that make up about 5% of cases in Ontario. He says there could be a return to restrictions.

“We’re monitoring the impact on the health system and we will make recommendations bases on the data to inform Ontarians of when we have to mask up more, certainly if you’re at risk of this virus at present, we need you to mask.”

Ontario residents can start receiving their annual flu shots beginning November 1st and Dr. Moore is urging everyone to get their Covid boosters & flu shot.
