In the view of Ontario Provincial Police, politicians’ support for the ”Freedom Convoy” protesters was likely to rally and strengthen their resolve.
That assessment was in a report February 6, more than one week after they arrived in Ottawa.
In its report, the provincial police flagged how the ”apparent support from Canadian political figures” was ”certain to further embolden those organizing and participating in the blockade.”
The intelligence, which was entered as evidence to the public inquiry into the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act, did not mention any politicians by name.
Those who did express support included many Conservative MPs including new leader Pierre Poilievre, and People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier.
