Two music giants will be honoured next years as MusiCares Persons of the Year, celebrating the legacy of Motown a few days before the Grammy Awards.

82-year old Smokey Robinson and 92-year old Berry Gordy will receive the prestigious honour in Los Angeles February 3rd.

Gordy founded Motown records and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

Robinson is a Grammy winner who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.

It’s the first time the tribute ceremony will honor two greats and  follows this year’s MusiCares Person of the Year, Canada’s Joni Mitchell.
