Two of the three Simon sisters died last week within a day of each other leaving singer-songwriter Carly Simon the lone survivor.
Carly says the loss will be “long and haunting.”
Both Joanna and Lucy Simon were musicians in their own rights; Joanna an acclaimed mezzo-soprano who became an arts correspondent for P-B-S, Lucy composed the music for the long-running Broadway musical “The Secret Garden,” which debuted in 1991.
Joanna died of thyroid cancer at the age of 85 on Wednesday last week. The next day lucy died of breast cancer at the age of 82.
Lucy and the now 77-year old Carly once performed as The Simon Sisters. Their brother Peter died in 2018.
