Doug Ford and former Solicitor General Sylvia Jones will go to court to fight an order to appear as witnesses at the public inquiry examining the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act after declining to voluntarily appear.

According to inquiry lawyers, they believe Ford and Jones have evidence that would be relevant.

The public inquiry examining the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act to end the truckers’ protest that paralyzed downtown Ottawa for three weeks is using its authority to summon the pair to appear.

Lawyers for the Public Order Emergency Commission say they asked Ford and Jones to sit down for an interview last month but the pair refused several requests.
