The theatrical version of Yann Marterl’s Booker winning “Life of Pi” is headed to Broadway.
The Canadian author’s bestselling adventure novel inspired the Oscar-winning movie by the same title.
The stage version will begin previews in March of next year at the same theatre that hosted Come From Away for 5 years. The play will open at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre March 30th.
The play centres on 16-year-old Pi, who is stranded on a life boat with a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger.
“Life of Pi” is currently running in London’s West End, where it’s won five Olivier Awards.
The 59-year old author attended Trent University in Peterborough and won the Mann-Booker prize in 2002.
