Gianandrea Noseda, music director of Zurich Opera, has agreed to a three-year contract extension through the 2027-28 season.
The new contract will keep the conductor in his position after Matthias Schulz takes over as intendant and artistic director in 2025-26, succeeding Andreas Homoki.
Noseda, 58, took over as music director of Zurich Opera from Fabio Luisi at the start of the 2021-22 season and is currently halfway through the company’s new staging of Wagner’s Ring Cycle.
Since 2017-18, Noseda has served as music director of the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, D.C., and as principal guest conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra since 2016-17.
