COVID-19 releated deaths in Ontario continue to climb on a weekly basis this fall to a number we haven’t seen since the spring.

According to the Ministry of Health, 121 deaths have been attributed to COVID-19 over a one week period, following a week when there were 109 fatalities linked to COVID.

Meantime, the number of people with COVID-19 in Ontario hospitals rose more than 15-percent week over week and now stands at 1,921. That is the highest that number has been since early February.

While the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 increased week over week, the proportion of people receiving treatment in intensive care decreased, going from 158 to 148.

Wastewater surveillance has been showing a general upward trajectory in viral levels since about the second week of September.

In addition, there are 197 active outbreaks in long term care homes, compared with 190 this time last week and 179 two weeks ago.
