Jerry Lee Lewis — the outrageous rock `n’ roll pioneer has died.
A spokesperson for the 87 year old Lewis said he died this morning at his home in Memphis, Tennessee.
His talent, energy and ego collided into into piano-pumping perfection on hits like “Great Balls of Fire” and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.”
Nicknamed the Killer, he was often described as “rock n’ roll’s first great wild man” and one of the most influential pianists of the 20th century.
Lewis has a dozen gold records in both rock and country. He has won four Grammy awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award and two Grammy Hall of Fame Awards.
Lewis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2022.
