Do you have the blue check mark on your Twitter account?

Billionaire and Twitter’s new CEO Elon Musk is already hinting at major changes for Twitter as he begins his first week as owner of the social-media platform.

One idea is to charge some users pay if they want to keep a blue check mark on their profile.

Twitter has used the mark to verify higher-profile accounts, including Musk’s, so that other users know it’s really them.

Critics have long complained about the mark as nothing more than a status symbol. Many verified account users say if they’re forced to pay, they’ll leave Twitter. And some go further telling Musk that he should pay them  for content they post on the platform.

Musk has invited a group of tech-savvy friends and investors to help guide the San Francisco-based company’s transformation, which is likely to include a shakeup of its staff.
