Widespread layoffs have started at Twitter as its new owner, Elon Musk, transforms the business.

Just days before the U.S. midterm elections, the move has caused serious worries about instability engulfing the platform as a source of trustworthy information.

Musk and Twitter are now facing legal actions due to the speed and scope of the changes.

At least one lawsuit, filed in San Francisco, claimed that Twitter had broken the law by failing to give the requisite notice.

Employees were informed via email by the corporation that they will learn of their employment status on Friday.

About half of Twitter’s 7,500 employees were affected by the cuts, according to Yoel Roth, head of safety and integrity at the company.
