She was supposed to be on stage to honour Carly Simon at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony.

But Ottawa-raised singer Alanis Morissette was a no-show.

She’s now written a vague explanation on social media hinting that the Hall of Fame ceremony reduces women.

Morissette wrote that she’s sucked up anti-woman sentiment on more occasions than she can count in order to perform for audiences over the years, but she no longer needs to spend time in an environment that reduces women.

She did not offer any further specifics.

The Broadway show Jagged Little Pill won two Tony Awards and  15 nominations – the most nominations of any show of the 2019–2020 season.

It also won the Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
