A new poll finds that most Canadians support increasing financial aid to Ukraine even if that leads to a larger deficit.

The Nanos Research survey shows seven-in-ten Canadians either support or somewhat support sending more money to Ukraine, despite the risk of a bigger deficit, versus a quarter of Canadians who would either oppose or somewhat oppose the move.

It also shows those 55 and older a more than twice as likely to support such a decision compared with those 18 to 34.

Meantime, on this Remembrance Day when we pause and remember all who served in war, one rages on elsewhere.

Ukrainian troops are preparing to enter the southern city of Kherson after Russian forces retreated.

A spokesperson for Ukraine’s military intelligence agency says it will be possible to talk about establishing Ukrainian control over the city only after an official report by the General Staff of the Ukrainian army.

The withdrawal marks a major victory for Ukraine, although Russia controls about 70 % of the that one region.
