As Russian forces continue to target Ukraine’s power grid, the country’s main energy company has expressed interest in Canadian-made electrical equipment.
According to Tower Solutions, its two factories in Quebec and Ontario manufacture transmission towers that can be exported to Ukraine and quickly installed to restore power.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently stated that Russia had damaged 40% of his country’s energy infrastructure, and on Tuesday, Russian airstrikes caused widespread power outages.
A Tower Solutions representative pitched the company’s emergency replacement pylons to the president of D-TEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company, during a briefing last month.
The representative stated that the towers can be erected in minutes as opposed to the 90 minutes required for other pylons.
D-TEK president Maxim Timchenko stated that this is exactly the type of technology his company requires and requested that the Tower Solutions representative contact the people in charge of D-TEK’s equipment.
Tower Solutions president Ciro Pasini was hesitant to discuss publicly his company’s offer to the Ukrainian energy provider, implying that it is a sensitive issue involving government authorities.
