We know Canada’s healthcare workers have been under intense strain from COVID-19 pandemic driven pressures.
Now we’re learning some specifics on what has led to this intense strain.
A new report from the Canadian Institute for Health Information reveals between 2020 and 2021:
Overtime hours were at their highest level seen in over a decade.
More than 1800 nurses moved into self-employment or agency jobs.
There was a deceleration of growth in the supply of primary care physicians, coupled with a decrease in health services provided.
