Canadian actor Michael J. Fox was celebrated last night with an honourary Oscar at the Governors Awards.
The annual event put on by the Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was back in full form after several pandemic-adjusted years.
The 61 year old Fox was honoured for his acting work and his advocacy for Parkinson’s disease.
In 1998, Fox disclosed his 1991 diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease. He subsequently became an advocate for finding a cure and founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000 to help fund research.
