Toronto was home this week to the world premier of a ballet based on a trilogy of novels by Margaret Atwood.

Fascinated by Atwood’s writing for many years, Wayne McGregor created MADDADDAM calling it a physical experience like reading, but in another form.

The 52-year-old McGregor who is the resident choreographer for England’s Royal Ballet, approached the 83-year-old Atwood in 2017 about adapting her novels for the ballet stage.

The National Ballet performance is on until next Wednesday,  November 30 at The Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
