The Ford government used it in bargaining with education workers, before backtracking, but Doug Ford says he will not use the notwithstanding clause after a court struck down Bill 124.
However, the premier says the government still plans to appeal Tuesday’s ruling that killed the law that limits wages for public sector workers.
”I want to go through the process, and I always believe in treating people fairly.  I’ve never been opposed to, you know, working with them,” adds Ford.
”You saw what happened with CUPE.  I think I’m very flexible, very open-minded.”
While saying he found the ruling ”very interesting”, Ford has ”confidence” in the courts and is ”sure they’ll make the proper decision.”
An Ontario Superior Court justice ruled Bill 124 was unconstitutional as it infringes on the rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining.
