The Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) program was launched in July 2020, in an effort to reduce speeding; especially in ”community safety zones” near schools.
Warning signs are posted in these areas to alert drivers.
Currently, there are 50 of these cameras — two in each ward.
The city will be adding 25 more (an additional one in each ward) in February.
The cameras are moved around every 3-to-6 months, with locations determined by speed and collision data.
Here’s a map of where the cameras are situated across the city.
If someone’s caught speeding by these municipal cameras, the registered owner is who gets the ticket, regardless of who was behind the wheel, and there are no demerit points.
