Ontario’s 55,000 Education workers will wrap up voting today on whether to accept a tentative deal their union struck with the provincial government.

The online ratification vote opened on Thursday, November 24 and will close later today.

The workers walked off the job last month after the province passed — then later repealed — legislation that imposed a four-year contract on them and banned them from striking.

“My co-workers and I stood up to the Ford government to get a forced contract repealed as part of the anti-worker Bill 28,” said Laura Walton, educational assistant and president of CUPE’s Ontario School Boards Council of Unions.

The union is slated to announce the results of the vote tomorrow.
